Confederate States Roundels

Description

A 1950's textbook explains to high schoolers the evolution of the C.S. Air Force roundels. Including Texas'!

I made it with photoshop, safe for the paper texture, which was open source, and the Confederate flags, made by un unknown hand, and I claim no autorship of it.

I tried to respect the origin and evolution of roundels, the first one being that of France, linked to Napoleonic symbology. When air warfare popularised at the verge of WWI, the Entente powers adopted a style distinct from that of France, to avoid confusion. Black simple designs, usually crosses, in line with Germany's. The Confederacy was a part of the Entente, but felt it was kind of a downer to don their own traditional colours because of an alliance.

The last one would be explained in the next page, but it's basically the roundel of the Resistence, which fights a dictatorial President Zachary S. Lee, the one that brought fascism to the CSA. No Ku Klux Klan, of course. The KKK makes no sense if there's no Reconstruction or Civil Rights movement. The Resistence Roundel has US aid, so it goes back to its US-like roundel, but it turns it 45º in order to make their Christian belief more evident.

Which one is "the current one"? Hell if I know. It could be the 5th one perfectly.

I hope someone wil find it inspiring.

Wow! This is amazing work. Infact I was inspired to do my own roundle similar to the British Style but with colors moved around which hadn't already been used by another Country. I really hope to see more like this Alternate History.
